CNC Operator

JL Billet is a leading manufacturer in the firearms industry and we are looking for a CNC Operator. Fast paced environment, must be able to multitask. SummaryThe responsibilities of the CNC Operator role is to load and unload parts in fixtures provided, run the appropriate CNC program, inspect work for conformance using various calibrated measuring instruments and gauges, perform detailed visual inspection of features and surface defects for compliance with drawing, perform works of low-complexity.

REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• 0-2 years machine shop experience, high school diploma, GED or trade school graduate
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings; knowledge of GD&T a plus
• Must have basic math skills
• Must be able to acquire skills with common machine shops measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, ect.) to inspect and qualify machined parts accordingly
• Must be able to follow through on all tasks and projects according to supervision and leadership
• Critical thinker with a strong attention to detail, with a desire to constantly improve
• Willing to cross train in various areas of the shop floor to support other employees
• Follow lean manufacturing practices and maintain a clean work environment

EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE/SYSTEMS

• Safety shoes and safety glasses required. Hearing protection recommended
• General hand tools, measuring devices, cutting tools, equipment of the department
• Computer – Microsoft Office suite and email

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing for long periods of time; exposure to oils, grease, and noise
• Must be able to lift 50lbs

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Feed machines raw material or prepped material to ensure machines are properly stocked
• Load and unload parts from CNC machines and lathes
• Perform inspection with precision measuring tools according to JL Billet standards and customer requirements
• Remove chips and debris from machined parts; clean parts as required
• Select and cut proper materials for work orders using a band saw
• Maintain shop equipment including checking coolant, and other fluid levels and adding appropriate fluid when necessary, wiping down machines, tools, work spaces free of oil, grease or debris
• Perform surface finish activities including deburring, tumbling and shot peening machined parts
• Provides general assistance to Assembly department in preparation of assembling and shipping finished parts
• Organize incoming deliveries, inventory, and in process orders
• Maintain a clean shop environment through removal of chips, dust, and debris from manufacturing operations, including emptying chip bins
• Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
