We are seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to provide clients with expertise in technical accounting and guidance on complex financial transactions and reporting issues. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC and financial reporting standards, and hands-on corporate controllership experience. This role will work closely with the partner-in-charge of the Technical Accounting Advisory line of service, supporting client engagements and delivering tailored solutions. You will collaborate directly with client CFOs, Controllers, and finance teams to address technical accounting matters, support financial reporting, and ensure compliance.
This is a hybrid role, requiring occasional in-person meetings with clients and stakeholders. Candidates must reside in the Tri-State area (CT, NY, NJ) or Boston (MA).

Role and Responsibilities
- Provide technical accounting expertise on complex topics such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock-based compensation, and M&A transactions.
- Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
- Support the implementation of new accounting standards and policies within client organizations.
- Conduct and review technical accounting research; document findings in technical memos and workpapers.
- Collaborate with client finance teams to prepare financial statements and disclosures.
- Work directly with the partner-in-charge to execute engagements, resolve technical accounting issues, and develop advisory strategies.
- Support external audit processes by preparing audit schedules and addressing audit inquiries.
- Perform detailed financial analyses, including variance analyses and trend reviews.
- Train and mentor client teams on technical accounting topics and financial reporting processes.
- Assist with the documentation, assessment, and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), including compliance with SOX requirements.
- Draft accounting policies and assist with roll-out to client teams
- Oversee accounting project deliverables, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA, CA, or equivalent certification.
- 8 years of experience, including working in enterprise-level companies in a financial reporting or corporate controllership capacity.
- Hands-on experience supporting the controllership function, including reporting directly to the Controller, CAO or CFO.
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex accounting processes, such as the financial close, reconciliations, journal entries, and audit support.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, including SAP, Oracle, and NetSuite.
