Job description
The Senior Personal Property Tax Analyst works closely with JM Tax Advocates' team leaders in all aspects of job responsibilities including demonstrating knowledge of industry trends, identifying client issues and conflicts, and proactively communicating solution options to team leader to deliver property tax and incentive compliance, appeal, and consulting services for JMTA clients. The Senior Business Personal Property Tax Analyst maintains focus on delivering business personal property tax consulting and compliance. This includes researching issues, reviewing real and assessable personal property tax assessments, reviewing fixed assets, reconciling renditions and work papers, maintaining company workpaper database, and the preparation and presentation of assessment appeals and supporting litigation, researching available incentives, presenting and negotiating incentive requests, and documenting secured benefits and findings.

Responsibilities
• Monitors all aspects of the annual property tax cycle for assigned personal property portfolios.
• Completes complex personal property tax returns, including maintaining compliance software tools and databases.
• Completes and maintains client workplans and schedules for associated project deliverables.
• Performs asset reconciliations and renditions
• Inspects properties, where required.
• Obtains and reviews assessor worksheets and property records, where required.
• Reviews and reconciles client data and identifies tax issues to research.
• Responds to client inquiries and requests from assessing agencies.
• Assists with management of practice group by acting as a mentor to less experienced staff.
• Contributes to a team environment that demonstrates support of firm management and decisions while building a positive culture
• Prepare, review, and processing of all client reporting requirements.
• Assists in the preparation of abatement and exemption applications.
• Supports team management of aspects of the appeal process (informal, formal, and litigation) and reports status and results to the client.
• Reviews client tax bills for payment, where required.
• Supports team management with client billing and collections and company financial forecasting.
• Pursues and maintains professional designations (i.e., CMI, Indiana Level III, etc.)
• Participates in professional organizations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.'
Job Requirements and Skills
• Proven experience as a business personal property tax analyst and consultant experienced in reviewing and filing complex business personal property tax returns
• Excellent project management skills
• Ability to work with results driven leadership.
• Proven experience in tracking and managing deadlines, working ahead of deadlines, not to deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel in particular with extensive experience using pivot tables)
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
• Ability to work with clients and staff exhibiting a strong customer service and “do whatever it takes” attitude.
Experience: 4 plus years’ experience in a business personal property tax consultant role.

• Bachelor's (Required)
• Preference given to candidates possessing their Level III Indiana Certification
• CMI highly desired.
