What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Researcher position at Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University?
Postdoctoral Scientist – Translational HIV-1 & NeuroHIV Research
Postdoctoral Scientist positions in translational HIV-1 research are available in Dr. Teresa H. Evering’s lab at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her research explores HIV-1’s effects on the central nervous system (CNS), including the pathogenesis of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND), viral persistence, and novel therapeutic strategies. Her lab integrates virology, comparative phylogenetics, immunology and molecular neuroscience.
The fellow will study transcriptional profiling and functional analysis of directly induced neurons (iNs) to investigate neuronal gene-expression pathways affected by neurocognitive impairment, aging, and cART. Additional work includes developing novel NeuroHIV models to understand HIV-1’s CNS impact and identify potential therapies. Separate research efforts focus on SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19-related neurological complications. This role offers collaboration with an international network of experts in virology, cell biology, and immunology.
