Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced In-House Employment Counsel to join our legal team. This role is ideal for a passionate employment litigator who desires to continue practicing in a dynamic, in-house setting within the healthcare industry. The successful candidate will manage a high volume of employment litigation matters, providing strategic legal support and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
Litigation Management :
Handle all aspects of employment-related litigation, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and other employment claims.
Represent the organization in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
Develop and implement litigation strategies to protect the company’s interests.
Legal Advisory :
Provide proactive legal counsel to management and HR teams on employment law matters.
Advise on policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws specific to the healthcare sector.
Case Analysis and Strategy Development :
Conduct thorough case assessments and develop effective defense strategies.
Collaborate with external counsel when necessary to manage complex litigation.
Compliance and Training :
Ensure the company remains compliant with all employment laws and regulations.
Develop and deliver training programs for management and staff on employment law topics and best practices.
Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain accurate records of all litigation matters and provide regular updates to senior management.
Prepare detailed reports on litigation trends and potential impacts on the organization.
Qualifications :
Education :
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the state bar (IL. NJ, PA, or CA)
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years of dedicated management-side employment litigation experience.
Proven track record in handling employment-related lawsuits, preferably within the healthcare industry.
Skills :
Strong litigation skills with a hands-on approach.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
High level of professionalism and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working in an in-house legal department, preferably within a healthcare setting.
Familiarity with healthcare-specific employment issues and regulations.
Ability to provide strategic legal guidance aligned with business objectives.
