Dentist Role at Grace Health

As a dentist with Grace Health, you will play a key role in providing quality dental care and achieving optimal health for our patients and communities served.

You will perform comprehensive dentistry, which emphasizes preventive care through dental education and clinical measures. You will develop treatment plans appropriate for each patient, and complete treatment plans in a competent, efficient manner.

You will diagnose oral diseases by appropriate examination, obtaining and interpreting x-rays of diagnostic quality, and completing indicated diagnostic testing. You will promote oral health and disease prevention through dental education and clinical quality measures. You will create treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of our patients while incorporating their desires and needs.

You will complete treatment plans in a competent, efficient manner while maintaining quality of care. You will monitor growth and development of the teeth and jaws. You will perform oral health interventions in a professional, competent manner. You will maintain competency in skills and remain current with professional practice guidelines.

You will provide referrals for a continuum of care into a specialty care setting. You will maintain accurate and up-to-date medical/dental records of all patients in accordance with Grace Health's policies and regulatory requirements. You will keep records that are adequately detailed, truthful, clear and accurate to support continuity of patient care and accurate billing (coding of diagnoses, services provided, and charges).

You will travel to school-based clinics and other Grace Health Dental sites to meet operational needs. You will provide clinical services and health education to improve oral health of students served in our school-based clinics. You will review and follow all dental clinic protocols, policies, and procedures.

You will provide excellent customer service to all internal and external patients. You will provide positive input with patients and families to ensure compliance with treatment recommendations. You will exercise direct supervision of assigned/designated dental assistants and hygienists.

You will attend dental provider meetings and participate in topics of discussion. You will provide professional consultation to other providers when needed. You will participate in Grace Health Outreach health promotion/disease prevention activities, both on-site and off-site as required.

You will maintain all dental department areas in compliance with dental department protocols relative to infection control, exposure control, and safety issues. You will follow CDC and OSHA guidelines for safety and infection control, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions.

You will follow proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with state and federal regulations. You will be knowledgeable of clinical quality measures and work closely with quality assurance staff for reporting.

You will understand population health and work collaboratively with health care team to promote health and wellness. You will collaborate with Dental Director and other professional staff members in development and periodic updating of standards of care, principles of practice, standing orders, clinical protocols, support staff job descriptions, and other dental policies.

You will assist in recruitment and orientation of new professional and support staff. You will have knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of dental care, including HIPPA compliance. You will provide call coverage for after hours and weekends.

Care coordination includes communicating with community organizations, health plans, facilities, and specialists. Care team members understand and embrace the concept of population management and proactively address the needs of patients and families served by this practice.

Team members must demonstrate skill and knowledge related to effective communication with vulnerable patient populations. Team members must participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities within the organization to ensure patients receive high quality care.

All team members will be involved in the process of improving quality incomes. Team members will participate in the review and evaluation processes of practice performance and help to identify opportunities for improvement.

Team members will participate in Grace Health's advocacy program.

General Duties:

  • Supervision: Routinely keeps supervisor informed about attendance and job assignments.

  • Efficiency: Works effectively and at an efficient pace.
  • Collaboration: Works cooperatively with providers, administration, and peers.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to assist in advancing Grace Health's mission and to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or experience: Must have Dental or be license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Typically, this includes a Doctor of Dental surgery or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from an accredited university.

License and certifications: DEA License. Certified in CPR. Additional experience, certifications, or licensing may be required.

Compliance: Willingness to comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding dental and health care.

Technology: Must be competent using electronic dental record. Must complete and maintain documentation of continuing education requirements.
