The City of Port Townsend is recruiting to fill a key role in the Facilities division of our Community Services Department. The position may be filled at either level described below, depending on qualifications.
Job Summary
Under general supervision by the division manager, this role performs a variety of tasks in maintenance, repair, and operations for various City facilities. Responsibilities include ensuring facilities are available and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. This involves areas such as custodial, carpentry, painting, HVAC operations, plumbing, and electrical trades work. The role operates various maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment, and performs related work as required. Additionally, this role oversees a small team or crew, assigning tasks, ensuring procedures are followed, and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and correctly. This position leads the team without formal authority over employee performance reviews or disciplinary actions.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Washington State driver's license
- Certified Pool Operators License or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Boiler Operators License or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Certified Building Operator Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year
- 10 years of experience in boiler, HVAC, electrical, janitorial, and facility maintenance, with 5 or more years in a lead role or 2 or more as a Crew Chief Apprentice
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working in a supervisory or management position in facility maintenance
- Considerable experience using a maintenance management software program
- Attended a WCIA management school or equivalent supervisory training program
Working Conditions
This position requires being onsite working indoors and outdoors during all types of weather; repeated walking, bending, stooping, and lifting; the ability to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.; vision and hearing at levels required to perform essential functions (may be corrected); and a full range of motor skills.
