Responsibilities:
- Provide medical examinations, care, and treatment to Military Treatment Facility patients
- Diagnose and treat communicable diseases and/or injuries
- Conserve patient health by applying knowledge of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic medical procedures
- Collaborate with consultants as needed
- Instruct and monitor other medical personnel in patient care and treatment
- Initiate requests for tests, x-rays, and hospital admissions as necessary
- Follow up on abnormal reports, reviewing x-ray and lab results within one week of receipt
- Prescribe medications according to privileges and MTF rules
- Document patient histories, physical examinations, and diagnoses
- Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to MTF directives
- Review patient medical histories and progress, making diagnoses and treating patients or prescribing treatments
- Utilize paraprofessional staff as needed, responding to cardiopulmonary arrest situations
- Makes preliminary interpretations of radiographs, including MRIs and CT scans
- Monitor in-patient progress, annotating medical records and consulting with gaining providers as necessary
- Communicate effectively with clinic administrators, releasing medical information only after prior coordination with the Patient Administration Division
- Familiarity with Center for Disease Control guidelines and Joint Commission standards
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada
- Successful completion of an internship and residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association
- 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, such as a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program
- Demonstrated clinical competency within the past two years in the required clinical discipline
- Cardiac certifications through the American Heart Association, including Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and DEA license registration
- Board certification/board eligibility in Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
- U.S. citizenship and English language proficiency
- Physical capability to stand/sit for extended periods and perform all services required under the contract
