The Accountant will apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to record and analyze financial data, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. This role also provides administrative support to leadership and assists the accounting team with transactional processing.
Education And Experience Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- 4 years of general ledger accounting experience, preferably in the construction or electrical industry.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Experience with payroll and business tax compliance across federal, state, and local levels.
- Prior experience with construction work-in-progress (WIP) accounting is a plus.
- Proficiency in financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Familiarity with business licensing procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to quickly learn business operations, assess needs, and implement process improvements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Record business transactions through journal entries and financial data analysis.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including asset capitalization, to support month-end close.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and financial reports.
- Analyze payroll and financial data to generate management reports.
- Monitor and maintain bonds, state and city licenses, and tax accounts.
- Conduct investment analysis for equipment purchases.
- Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, preparing supporting reports for financial transactions.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide recommendations on financial reserves, assets, and expenditures.
- Assess and enhance existing accounting processes for improved efficiency.
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
