Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
- Regularly produce financial reports or statements.
- Coordinate all audit activity.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the executive team; continuously collaborate with program vice presidents to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
- Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
- Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
- Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to the board of directors.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management roles, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field. (MBA or related advanced degree is preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, forecasting, and cost accounting.
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
- Able to analyze financial records and transfer information.
- Data-driven and highly analytical.
- Proficiency with accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
- Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask.
- Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
