We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our dealership team. As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the dealership, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. You will play a key role in driving profitability and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Provide timely and accurate financial reports to dealership management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and variances from budget and forecast.
- Assist with financial analysis and interpretation to support decision-making by dealership management.
- Develop and manage the dealership's annual operating budget and financial forecast, working closely with department managers to align goals and objectives.
- Monitor budget performance and analyze variances, identifying areas for cost control or revenue enhancement.
- Provide recommendations to dealership management for improving financial performance and achieving strategic objectives.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard dealership assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct periodic audits and reviews of financial processes and transactions to identify and mitigate risks.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed to facilitate audits and ensure compliance.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity, including monitoring bank accounts, cash disbursements, and collections.
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions.
- Optimize cash management strategies to maximize interest income and minimize financing costs.
- Supervise inventory accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and aging analysis.
- Work closely with the sales and operations teams to monitor inventory levels and turnover, identifying opportunities to optimize inventory management practices.
- Coordinate tax planning strategies with external tax advisors to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Prepare and file tax returns and reports accurately and timely, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax filings.
- Lead and develop the dealership's accounting and finance team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
