Jobot is partnering with a Denver based construction company that is adding a Controller to the team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth. This position requires a deep understanding of financial management principles, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to forecast future financial performance. The Controller will be responsible for the following
Month-End Closing (60%)
- Prepare payroll journal entries
- Accrue work-in-progress
- Prepare month-end recurring entries
- Prepare monthly accruals
- Bank reconciliation
- Update P&Ls
- Accrue unearned revenue and unbilled COGS
- Update management reports
- Calculate sales commissions including reconciliations
- Process payroll bi-weekly
- Human resource functions (benefits admin, new employee packages, etc.)
- Transmit 401k deferrals
- Calculate quarterly & annual sales bonuses
- Monthly & quarterly Sales & Use tax filings
- Complete & file CO personal property tax valuation
- Prepare job cost reports
- Accounting management
- Insurance admin (general liability, health insurance, etc.)
- Annual workers compensation & general liability insurance audits
- Prepare balance sheet schedules for CPA
- Create year-end reports
- Setup budget worksheets based on previous year
- Create initial revenue projections for new year
- Meet with management to review budget update details
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar role within corporate accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and technical accounting standards.
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to forecast financial trends accurately.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
