Job Details
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Permanent Director of Safety and Training to join our dynamic team. This high-level position is responsible for developing and implementing safety protocols, training programs, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, training development, and a deep understanding of OSHA regulations. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your skills and experience in a leadership role, contributing significantly to the safety and wellbeing of our team.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive health and safety programs for the organization.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees about safety procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and provide statistical reports to senior management.
- Collaborate with department managers to identify potential areas of safety improvement and implement appropriate strategies.
- Stay current with changes in safety regulations and industry practices, and update company policies and training programs accordingly.
- Lead the organization's Safety Committee, fostering a culture of safety awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role, including experience with training development and delivery.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety laws and standards.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver training programs and present safety information to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify safety risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
