Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal counsel to clients on all aspects of estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives.
- Develop and implement sophisticated estate planning strategies to minimize estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
- Advise clients on charitable giving, business succession planning, and wealth preservation strategies.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including wills, trusts, and estate plans.
- Conduct thorough legal research to stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact clients' estate plans.
- Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to ensure clients' estate plans align with their financial goals.
- Represent clients in probate court proceedings and handle estate and trust administration matters.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in the state.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in estate planning and tax law.
- Certified as an Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of estate planning strategies, tax laws, trust administration, and probate procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical legal advice on complex estate planning matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
- Proficient in legal research tools and software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong client service orientation, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and other professionals.
