Job Details

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, measure performance, and support strategic decision-making
• Build and maintain financial models and forecasts
• Collaborate with senior management to interpret financial data and provide insights for informed business decisions
  
  

Internal Controls & Accounting Processes

• Implement and maintain effective internal controls over financial processes
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
• Ensure adherence to GAAP and other accounting standards
• Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
  
  

Management Reporting & Budgeting

• Work with department heads to develop and maintain operating budgets
• Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis
• Prepare management reports to track key financial metrics and KPIs
• Support senior management with decision-making through insightful reporting and analysis
  
  

Compliance & Audit

• Manage external audits and ensure timely responses to auditor inquiries
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting
• Stay abreast of relevant accounting regulations and industry best practices
  
  

Technology & Systems

• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Billing.com. Shopify)
• Identify and evaluate new technologies to improve financial operations
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with IT and other departments
  
  

Additional Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with lenders and investors
• Oversee the preparation of tax returns (may partner with external tax professional)
• Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and senior management team
• Participate in cross-functional projects as needed
  
  

Qualifications

• CPA certification preferred
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
• 5 years of experience in a controller or senior accounting role
• Experience working with Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies and e-commerce is required.
• Proven track record of success in leading and managing financial teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Familiarity with GAAP and other accounting standards preferred
• Experience with budgeting and forecasting a plus
• Knowledge of inventory management software a plus
