Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects.
- Analyze blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to understand project requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other professionals to gather information and ensure accurate estimates.
- Use specialized software and tools to prepare and present estimates.
- Evaluate supplier and contractor bids for cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Regularly review and update cost databases and pricing information.
- Monitor industry trends and market fluctuations that might impact cost estimates.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on cost-related matters.
- Prepare and present reports to management and clients detailing cost estimates and the basis for calculations.
- Work closely with the project management team to ensure projects stay within budget.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical estimating, specifically with HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
- Excellent numerical skills and the ability to prepare detailed, accurate estimates.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and tools.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate supplier and contractor bids for cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Knowledge of industry trends and market fluctuations that might impact cost estimates.
- Ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to clients and management.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to monitor project budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness.
