Are you looking to take your career to the next level? We are currently seeking a seasoned Permanent Property Accountant to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a hybrid schedule, offering a balance between remote work and in-office interaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with a focus on commercial real estate and construction accounting. This role presents an opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of properties, including shopping centers, and to engage in a wide range of accounting tasks.

Responsibilities

As a Permanent Property Accountant, your primary role will be to maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.

Key responsibilities include

• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all business transactions are recorded.
• Update accounts receivable and issue invoices, tenant credit memos, and handle related transactions.
• Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
• Analyze transactions and prepare reports.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and reviewing financial reports/support as necessary.
• Manage utility expenses and ensure accurate allocation across properties.
• Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  
  

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you need to have a passion for numbers, an eye for detail, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in the accounting and finance sector.
• Proven experience as a property accountant, with a focus on commercial real estate and construction accounting.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and regulations.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
• Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially MS Excel) and accounting software (e.g. SAP).
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Ability to handle high volumes of data.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
