A Mechanical Engineer in the MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) Practice shall provide ventilation, heating/cooling, exhaust, ductwork and natural gas/propane distribution designs. This position reports directly to a Project Manager or Principal of the Practice Area. Project types include
- Municipal (police, fire and public works facilities)
- Park District (recreation centers, pools & maintenance buildings)
- Apartments, Senior living and mixed-use facilities
- Restaurants & entertainment
- Gas stations, C-stores and retail
- Offices and warehouses
- Healthcare facilities
- Produce/maintain design drawings & specifications from schematic design through construction administration
- Conduct field surveys and construction observation
- Engage with clients and staff in order to manage and coordinate scope and schedule
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit proficiency a plus
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, but not required
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience designing HVAC systems
- Familiarity with building codes (IMC, Fuel Gas Code, IECC)
- PE licensure is a plus
