We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Permanent Staff Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced tax professional to apply their skills and knowledge within a fast-paced, innovative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of state tax compliance, tax review, and assisting with tax authority audits. This position also includes the responsibility of sales & use tax compliance for our Corporate Office and ensuring compliance with all fleet requirements including registration, licensing, permitting and taxes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing tax audits by tax authorities, including responding to inquiries and providing necessary documentation.
- Handle sales & use tax compliance for the Corporate Office, including preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with fleet requirements including registration, licensing, permitting, and taxes.
- Research and analyze tax laws and regulations to ensure the company is in compliance and to identify potential tax savings strategies.
- Assist in the preparation of tax provision and tax disclosures for financial statement purposes.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
- Provide tax planning and consulting to management on a variety of tax matters.
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of professional tax accounting experience.
- Proven experience with income tax review and assisting with tax authority audits.
- Familiarity with sales & use tax compliance for Corporate Offices.
- Experience with fleet requirements including registration, licensing, permitting, and taxes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the use of tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
