This Superintendent role is a critical frontline leadership position overseeing day-to-day terminal operations — working directly with union labor teams, driving safety compliance, and ensuring operational excellence in a fast-paced port environment.
This is an opportunity to join a well-established organization known for investing in its people, technology, and long-term infrastructure — while providing a clear path for leadership growth.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Direct daily terminal operations, including discharge, load, departure, and cargo handling, within union labor environments.
Lead and supervise union personnel while maintaining operational efficiency and enforcing labor agreements.
Drive safety culture — ensure compliance with OSHA, HAZMAT, and company safety policies.
Conduct daily safety meetings, inspections, and audits within terminal operations.
Monitor productivity, track KPIs, and develop operational improvement plans.
Investigate and report safety incidents and operational issues promptly.
Oversee compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
Partner with dispatch and union leadership to coordinate staffing and labor resources.
Act as key liaison between management, customers, vendors, and union labor teams.
Support terminal leadership with hiring, coaching, and performance management of personnel.
What You Bring
3 years of leadership experience in marine terminal operations, stevedoring, port logistics, transportation, or similar heavy industrial environments.
Strong background managing union labor teams in operational settings.
Knowledge of cargo handling, rigging, load calculations, and terminal safety protocols.
OSHA, HAZMAT, And Safety Compliance Experience Required.
TWIC Card (or ability to obtain).
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, coach, and lead from the front.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and outdoor environments.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in marine terminal, port operations, rail yard operations, or logistics management.
Strong understanding of cargo stowage, safety codes, union dispatching procedures, and terminal best practices.
CPR Certification preferred.
Work Environment
Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Exposure to loud equipment, moving machinery, and industrial operations.
