$125,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our Finance team as a Sr. Tax Manager with specialization in Upstream Oil and Gas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tax compliance, planning, and strategy for our upstream oil and gas operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the entire tax process for the upstream oil and gas operations, including planning, compliance, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to analyze and understand the financial implications of various business decisions and transactions.
  • Lead and manage tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Stay updated with the latest tax laws and regulations, especially those pertaining to the upstream oil and gas industry, and advise management on the tax impact of various corporate strategies.
  • Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree in Taxation or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably within the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, particularly those applicable to the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience in managing tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-judged decisions.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
  • Proficiency in using tax software and other financial management tools.
