Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our Finance team as a Sr. Tax Manager with specialization in Upstream Oil and Gas.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tax compliance, planning, and strategy for our upstream oil and gas operations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the entire tax process for the upstream oil and gas operations, including planning, compliance, and reporting.
- Develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with the finance team to analyze and understand the financial implications of various business decisions and transactions.
- Lead and manage tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Stay updated with the latest tax laws and regulations, especially those pertaining to the upstream oil and gas industry, and advise management on the tax impact of various corporate strategies.
- Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax laws.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree in Taxation or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably within the upstream oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, particularly those applicable to the upstream oil and gas industry.
- Proven experience in managing tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-judged decisions.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
- Proficiency in using tax software and other financial management tools.
