Job Summary
We are seeking a Document Specialist / Technical Writer to create, maintain, and enhance IT documentation.
The ideal candidate will translate complex technical information into clear and concise documents for various audiences.
This role requires collaboration with development, quality assurance, and technical support teams to produce instructional materials, technical manuals, and business documentation.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain IT documentation, ensuring clarity and accessibility.Translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly documents.Collaborate with development, QA, and technical support teams to produce instructional materials and technical manuals.Review, critique, and edit documentation, including design documents, programmer notes, and system overviews.Interview subject matter experts and technical staff to collect and organize information.Research technical information, including drawings, design reports, and test specifications.Lead or assist in business requirement gathering sessions (Joint Application Development - JAD).Work with customers, stakeholders, and IT developers to document business requirements.Develop business process documentation, including As-Is and To-Be analysis.Lead and implement business process improvement recommendations.Maintain project documentation according to Program Management Office (PMO) standards and regulatory requirements.Oversee internal documentation libraries and special documentation projects.Serve as a liaison between users and technical teams.Ensure adherence to best practices for document integrity and quality.Manage stakeholder expectations and provide executive briefings.Work independently while collaborating within a cross-functional team.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or four years of equivalent work experience).Minimum of three (3) years of business or technical writing experience with proficiency in multiple software and graphics packages.Certification in Business Analysis from a recognized professional body (e.g., IIBA, PMI).Five (5) or more years of experience as an IT Business Analyst using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.Demonstrated experience in business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling, and methodology development.Ability to document user stories and write IT system requirements.Experience working with business users, technical staff, and architects to define operational needs based on use cases.Strong understanding of business process design and re-engineering.Proven ability to coordinate project teams and meet overall objectives.Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-departmental interactions.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel.Experience preparing status reports and providing management briefings.Strong leadership, negotiation, writing, and editing skills.Experience leading and facilitating meetings and documentation processes.Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in business intelligence tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau) and data analysis software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, SAS).Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Trello) and ERP systems.Certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA).Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.Experience collaborating with technical programming teams.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take initiative.Effective communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.Knowledge of IT security standards and best practices.Positive team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
