Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate student to join the Supply Chain team in San Carlos, CA, as a Supplier Industrialization Engineer - Intern. This individual would be responsible for designing and developing supplier processes and procedures to meet Joby Design Engineering requirements. This role will involve process development work starting at the conceptual level through full integration and optimization and continuing into manufacturing and testing. Included in this role are creative problem-solving and research of industry best practices. The successful candidate will navigate ambiguity and a willingness to work on manufacturing processes and problems that never have existed previously. We are solving manufacturing problems we discover as we pursue and develop our manufacturing supply base to meet the incredibly challenging needs of the JOBY aircraft.
Responsibilities
- Design complex manufacturing methods for all JOBY components working alongside Product Design Engineers, quality and manufacturing engineers, and technicians including packaging
- Initial layout and sizing
- Gathering detailed design requirements and fabrication specifications then establishing process requirements. Implementing these requirements into a robust and industry-leading process definition that meets or exceeds JOBY requirements
- Direct communication with internal and external suppliers and technicians in manufacturing
Required
- Heading into junior or senior year of undergraduate degree or above
- Materials science and process planning focused
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Strong analytical background
- Experience with hands-on design and testing
- Proficiency in mechanical design, materials selection, kinematics, troubleshooting, and analysisProficiency with CAD, preferred SolidWorks, Catia

Relocation Assistance: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes freshman to senior level students, is $20-32/hr. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor's, Master's, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,400-$7,500/month. Individual pay is determined by internship role, department, experience, job-related skills, and level of education.
