Construction Accounting Director (Consulting Assignment)

Location: Baltimore, MD 21202

Duration: 3-6 months

Compensation: $75 - $150 per hour (based on experience)

Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Accounting Director for a consulting assignment to provide expertise in project accounting, financial analysis, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and process improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to a dynamic and collaborative CFO and play a critical role in multiple high-impact projects, including close optimization, system process enhancement, and construction/project accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee project accounting functions to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with industry standards.
• Manage WIP analysis and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate financial data for decision-making.
• Lead and optimize the corporate accounting close process, identifying and implementing efficiency improvements.
• Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to support project and organizational goals.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance system processes and workflows, driving improvements in efficiency and accuracy.
• Support the CFO on ad-hoc projects, including strategic initiatives and reporting enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent designation preferred.
• 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on construction accounting and project/WIP accounting.
• Proven track record of leading process improvements and system optimization.
• Strong knowledge of accounting systems and tools; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
