What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Cottage Parent position at John K. Crosswell Home for Children (Non-profit)?
Since 1935, Crosswell Home for Children has provided a safe and nurturing Christian community to children and youth throughout South Carolina who are unable to live with their families for various reasons. Our children attend local public schools off campus and are involved in church and a variety of extracurricular activities.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 2pm-10pm
We are currently looking for a dedicated, compassionate individual who has a passion and desire to work with teenage girls, with a mission and commitment to serve. Our 28-acre gated smoke-free campus provides care in a home setting for children up to 21 years old.
Job Summary: The Cottage Parent is responsible for the day-to-day guidance, care, nurturing, and supervision of up to 10 children living in a cottage setting. The Cottage Parent should be available to children at all times in order to help meet the spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and educational needs of the children in their care. The Cottage Parent will be met with a variety of challenges on a daily basis; the ability to think and act decisively is a must. Duties include direct supervision, crisis management, daily living support, pro social skill development, recreational activities, behavioral intervention, family interaction, child advocacy and participation in assessment and service planning.
Requirements:
- 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or its equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in the Human Services field is preferred
- One (1) year of childcare experience; Residential care preferred.
- Able to pass standard background checks including: Monitored Drug Screen, FBI fingerprinting, Employment physical, SLED, DSS Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
- SC Driver’s license with clean driving record and at least 5 years driving experience.
