What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Internship - Human Resources position at John Michael Kohler Arts Center?
The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex, is seeking a Human Resources Intern for the summer. The Intern will work closely with the Human Resources team and Arts Center staff members to support the organizational needs of JMKAC. This internship will focus on recruitment, database management, analytics, and strategy. Specific areas of focus depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests.
Responsibilities:
Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
Assist in planning and execution of community and employee focused events.
Create and implement surveys to capture information regarding volunteer and employee satisfaction and engagement. Compile, analyze, and report survey results.
Represent the Arts Center at events, including Thursday Nights Summer Concert Series throughout the summer, Midsummer Festival of the Arts July 19th and 20th, and Art Center’s participation in 4th of July parade.
Manage and update physical and virtual employee bulletin boards.
Assist with organization and office duties.
Qualifications
Currently obtaining or have completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through skills
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability to successfully manage multiple projects at one time

- Maintain Confidentiality
Summer 2025 Internship Dates
June 2-August 22, 2025 (may be flexible)
29 hours a week, including some nights and weekends

A nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex in downtown Sheboygan, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center is devoted to innovative explorations in contemporary art. Central to its mission is promoting an understanding and appreciation of the work of self-taught and contemporary artists through original exhibitions, commissioned works of art, performing arts programming, community arts initiatives, and publications. The Arts Center’s collections focus primarily on works by environment builders, self-taught and folk artists, and works created in the Arts/Industry residency program.
The 100,000-square-foot Arts Center comprises ten galleries, a flexible performance space, studio-classrooms, meeting spaces, SHOP, and CAFE. The Arts Center also has an adjunct site: ARTspace, an exhibition space and shop in The Shops at Woodlake in Kohler Village. In 2021, the Arts Center opened the Art Preserve, a new building dedicated to the display and study of JMKAC’s collection of artist-built environments.
