Located in the beautiful low country in Ridgeland, SC, John Paul II Catholic School opened in 2013 with just 57 students in grades 7-9. John Paul II Catholic School educates students of all faiths in a caring, Christ-centered environment. We prepare students to be scholars with a soul in accordance with the traditions of the Catholic faith and through the intentional commitment to our core values of service, high expectations, innovation, excellence, leadership, and discipleship. As a testimony to that mission, the school now serves 372 students in grades 6-12 and is undergoing an expansion to accommodate even more families.
Position Summary: Lead students in grades 6-12 through an understanding of the Catholic faith and Catholic traditions.
Classification: Full-time, Exempt Reports To: Principal
Education Requirements/Position Qualifications:
- Teacher certification or equivalent
- Practicing Catholic in good standing
- Completed background screening
Essential Job Functions:
- Knowledge and understanding of the teachings of Pope St. John Paul II.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge and understanding of the theology of St. Thomas Aquinas.
- Teaching salvation history through Sacred Scripture.
- Familiarity with philosophy, in particular ethics and political philosophy.
- Courses include New and Old Testament, Sacramental Theology, Church History, Christian morality, and Catholic Social Teaching.
