What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Coordinator position at John Wood Group?
Wood Group is looking for a Material Coordinator to support our Willow Project. The successful candidate will be required to be in the office 3 days a week; Mondays and Fridays can be remote. Candidates must be required to work in our West Park office three days a week . International candidates need not apply, no moving allowances will be considered. Candidate must possess previous EPC experience , no candidates will be considered that do not have previous Oil& Gas EPC experience.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate the material procurement requirements to meet the needs of construction projects.
- Prepare daily and weekly materials reports and assist in the evaluation of Contractor’s invoices.
- The materials coordinator is also responsible for procurement traceability, including tracking equipment and materials and maintaining the integrity of the material
- Maintains records of materials, equipment, supplies, and spare parts
- Confirms S/N’s on “materials on hand” to various parties
- Maintains efficient stores management practices and processes to retain equipment and spare parts’ integrity in storage
- Aids the receipt of time-sensitive materials that require immediate processing
- Acts as a point of contact for those checking on the status of procured materials.
- Performs periodic reviews of vendor/supplier performance and accountability (quality of personnel, service, etc.)
- Ensures no material shortages
- Coordinates and reconciles inventory counts, inventory reporting, and dashboard creation
- Monitors and controls inventory to ensure accuracy
- Open to travel to jobsite and other locations as required.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Maintain administrative control of materials (Mainly valves and SP Items) as required.
- Assure that material is properly ordered, received, inspected, handled and accounted for including custody.
- Check all material take-offs against construction drawings
- Assure material reconciliation is properly done and assist in procurement activities.
- Participate in coordination meetings
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports
Key Qualifications:
- At least five years’ experience with material handling or procurement as it relates to valves and specialty items or related facility projects.
- Offshore and/or onshore experience
- Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision
- Good communication skills
- Teamwork

- Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment, reason logically, and make sound decisions.
