The position's responsibilities would include instructing students with principles and applications. Academic instruction will include classroom lectures and hands-on activities. The ideal candidate should have the ability to speak confidently in front of a small crowd and a passion for recruiting into the skilled trades. Be able to manage, maintain, and supervise the course of study. The instructor is responsible for course development, delivery, and assessment.
We are looking for someone to start this academic year, beginning at the end of August. The position will work from mid-August to mid-May. An Associate's degree is required, with at least 4 years of experience in electrical construction.
Position Summary:
The instructor is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supervising their course of study. The instructor is responsible for course development, delivery, and assessment. The instructor reports directly to the lead instructor or program director.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain the course of study by reviewing syllabi, course curriculum, books
- Assist with the selection and review of library resources to keep them current for the course of study
- Enforce college policies and procedures with program students
- Maintain a safe learning environment within program areas
- Submit student book/tool kit/parts information to the lead instructor or department chair
- Work with Academics to develop scheduling and transferability of coursework
- Provide student advisement and assistance when necessary
- Promote the program and assist with the procurement of educational resources and equipment
- Participate in college committees, activities, and events
- Participation in professional organizations
- Assist the Continuing Education Department as required
- Complete other related duties as assigned
Individuals must have strong communication skills, the ability to teach, expertise in their program area, good managerial skills, knowledge of industry standards, assessment skills, and organizational and word-processing skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Enforce college policies and procedures with all students and within their course of study.
Equipment to be used:
Equipment used in the program of study, computers, and associated software.
