Traveling HVAC Controls Engineer (BAS/DDC/BMS/UMCS/FRCS) - International / OCONUS (Job number: 1185)

We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our federal team supporting U.S. military and other U.S. federal government sites Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS). Our OCONUS team supports projects for the U.S. government, primarily for the Department of Defense, in foreign countries (no designated war zone countries). Travel is based on the project needs, but typically around 80%. Typical travel roughly 60-90 day durations (some times less depending on location and project scope), then home for 1-2 weeks before going back on-site.

Our Engineers on this team get the unique opportunity to support some of our top government and military sites all over the world. Our Engineers are engaged in the full lifecycle of a project from pre-sales to closeout. These duties may include cost estimating & sales support, performing pre-design site survey, designing control system shop drawing submittals, generating product literature submittals, programming controller sequence of operations, executing control system startup & commissioning, integrating the field controllers to the head end, creating user interface graphics, training the customer, and generating project closeout documents such as as-built drawings and O&M manuals

Pay Range : Base salary 25% uplift when traveling overseas. Daily per diem provided when traveling. Bonus eligible on top of base salary. Will explain full compensation details further during interview.

Location : Virtual / Remote (work from home) - can be based anywhere in the United States. Will require up to 80% international travel in roughly 60-90 day durations (some times less depending on location and project scope). Will not travel to any designated war zone countries. All travel related expenses are provided by the company.

As a HVAC Controls Engineer, you will :

• Engage in the full lifecycle of a project from pre-sales to closeout
• Design and configure complex software building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required
• Configures and programs HVAC building automation and control systems (Direct Digital Controls) and creates controller sequence of operations
• Develops and tests software programs necessary to operate the system per project requirements and specifications
• Support technicians by ensuring the quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs
• Commissions and troubleshoots building control system to ensure proper operation of the building control system
• Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation
• Supports the pre-sales engineering process; cost estimating & sales support, performing pre-design site survey, designing control system shop drawing submittals, generating product literature submittals
• Coordinate drawings and equipment schedules for submittal packages that communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, field installation team and subcontractors
• Provides field change information to the project team for as-built drawings (typically in Visio / CAD) and software
• Keeps management, contractors, and customer informed of job progress and issues
• Assists in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control system
• Participates in release meeting with project field team. Performs value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction
• Adheres to all safety standards. Holds a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety
