Assistant Circulation Services Manager (Manager II)

Johnson County Library is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Circulation Services Manager. This position manages the processing functions of the Materials Handling and Interlibrary Loan Departments. This position will supervise Interlibrary Loan Clerks and will back up the Circulation Services Manager. This posting will be open through 5:00 pm on June 26, 2023. Duties include:

• Manages Interlibrary Loan (ILL) staff and processes for the Library system; ensures that Interlibrary Loan processes utilize technological and professional workflows; researches and implements improvements to ensure team development and productivity; creates and implements standard statistical measures to monitor workflow and improve output and quality; researches and evaluates new releases of OCLC software.
• Manages the ILL cost center, tracking and analysis including invoicing and billing of ILL borrowed and lent items with outside library systems, courier billing, and postage costs; serves as primary contact with external vendors and Interlibrary Loan systems such as OCLC Worldshare Directory, Share It, and third-party Interlibrary Loan couriers.
• Manages Materials Handling Department staff; oversees the processing of new and recirculating library materials in varied formats; researches and implements improvements to ensure team development and productivity; creates and implements standard statistical measures to monitor workflow and improve output and quality; researches and evaluates new releases of integrated library software; coordinates daily operations within the integrated library software.
• Supports the Circulation Services Manager, handling issues in their absence; manages resources appropriately; collaborates with branches to maintain Circulation Services, collaborates with Collection Development to maintain the collection; assists Circulation Services Manager and staff to manage budget.
• Provides library policy and procedures information; provides guidance to staff regarding patron and collection issues and handles emergency situations; provides leadership, priorities and workflow for the department; supports the implementation of strategic plan goals and tactics; supports system-wide initiatives; share ideas, addresses concerns, and supports library and county initiatives; represents Library appropriately to both internal and external customers; participates in committee work, which may include acting as project lead for system-wide projects.

Minimum Job Requirements:

A bachelor's in Library Science, Business, or relevant field is required. Three (3) years of experience working in a library setting is also required.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Preferred Qualifications:

A master's in Library Science or relevant field and one (1) year experience working in an Interlibrary Loan setting are preferred.
