GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs assigned sanitation services in the county, which includes complaint investigations and pre-construction site evaluations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Performs Septic Inspection and investigates septic complaints. Checks and approves septic permits before work commences.
- Checks for non-permitted construction.
- Gathers court case information in the field for the permit office.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear if required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
*High School diploma or equivalent, with less than 1 year related experience. Combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions listed above can be substituted.
*Must have, or be capable of obtaining in a timely manner, a valid Designated Representative License from TCEQ
*A valid Class C Texas driver's license is required when driving county vehicles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of septic and chemistry
- Can follow County, State, and Federal laws and regulations
- Has knowledge of permitting process, plats, maps, drainage and flood studies
- Read, analyze, and interpret standards, policies, procedures, and regulations
- Develop and write reports, policies, and correspondence
- Handle common inquiries or complaints
- Exercise good judgment, focus on detail as required by the job, and work independently
- Follow oral and written instructions and procedures
- Collect, organize, and interpret data and prepare accurate records
- Compare data from a variety of sources for accuracy and completeness
- Verify and maintain accuracy of detailed data and information, detect data errors
- Meet schedules and deadlines of the work unit
- Maintain well-organized materials, files, systems and tools
- Adapt to changes in work situations and priorities
- Reason/analyze; use logic to identify and resolve problems
- Evaluate, organize, and summarize data and information
- Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, or managers in the work unit and other departments, as well as with staff of outside entities and other individuals, as applicable to the essential duties and responsibilities
