Job Description
Additional Duties Include:
Manages the accounting functions of the Mental Health Center; supervises the recording of all accounting transactions and general ledger system used for financial reporting to the Mental Health Advisory Board, State, BOCC and Mental Health management; supervises the accounts payable and receivable functions. Ensures payroll information is correctly reflected; authorizes all general accounting transactions, adjusting journal entries and accruals; oversees purchasing card program for Mental Health.
Prepares, monitors and coordinated the budget process with the Assistant Mental Health Director; reviews/adjusts salary worksheets for budget staff; develops budgets for various program areas; prepares budget reports for Budget staff to present to BOCC; monitors budget throughout the year through financial reporting.
Manages all grant and state budget preparation and reporting; monitors grant expenditures on a monthly basis and coordinates preparation of all monthly grant financial reports; coordinates year-end grant reports used by FMA for year-end single audit requirements; reviews/analyzes external auditor grant financial reports for accuracy.
Coordinates purchasing transactions; prepares bid and RFP process; ensures all purchasing policies are followed and appropriate competition is obtained and documented; monitors the appropriateness of purchases; reviews purchasing transactions to ensure Term and Supply contracts are used whenever possible; coordinates contract development with Purchasing and Legal.
Job Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or other relevant field; Five (5) years governmental accounting or relevant experience; Five (5) years’ experience in the area of accounting, accounts payable or receivable and payroll or relevant field; One (1) year leading, directing, supervising, or coordinating the work of others.
Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.
