Basic Functions

At Johnson Screens, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity while supporting our mission to deliver innovative manufacturing solutions. The Accounting & Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting functions, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and managing both internal and external financial reporting. This role involves strategic tax planning, accurate financial statement preparation, and coordination with external auditors to ensure Johnson Screens' continued success in alignment with our values of integrity, collaboration, and results-driven strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate taxes, sales tax, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including managing corporate tax filings and payments.
• Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Coordinate with external audits and manage the preparation of necessary documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Lead month-end and year-end financial closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Collaborate and support where needed the Director of Accounting & Finance to prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for senior management.
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative, results-driven environment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by streamlining accounting and tax processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Work with tax consultants to stay current with changes in tax laws and accounting standards, providing recommendations to senior leadership for compliance and optimization.
• Work with tax consultants to develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.
• Perform various other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting & Finance.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and tax management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
• Proven experience with tax planning and compliance at the corporate level.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting software, SAP preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop accounting staff.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments and provide financial insights to senior leadership.
• Results-oriented with a focus on process improvement and alignment with Johnson Screens' values of integrity, collaboration, and operational excellence.
