As a Welder Intern at Johnson Screens, you will support the welding and fabrication team by assisting in the preparation, assembly, and finishing of metal components. Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist welders and fabricators in the preparation, assembly, and fabrication of metal components, ensuring all tasks are completed with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform material handling tasks, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal parts, ensuring all components are properly prepared for welding and fabrication.
- Demonstrate competence by reading and interpreting blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to accurately support welding processes.
- Collaborate with the welding team and other departments, showing open-mindedness and teamwork in completing assigned tasks efficiently.
- Operate hand tools, grinders, and other basic equipment safely, adhering to all company safety guidelines and policies to ensure a secure work environment.
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces, contributing to a safe and efficient production area, demonstrating a commitment to doing the right thing.
- Assist in quality control by inspecting finished products for defects or inconsistencies, ensuring that all components meet Johnson Screens' high standards of integrity and quality.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on production processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and quality.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and job progress, ensuring integrity in all documentation.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to ensure production goals are met and high-quality results are achieved.
• Must know Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, operating and technical procedures, and work instructions as it applies to the position.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Welding Supervisor.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication processes, with a willingness to learn and develop in the role.
- Competence in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately.
- Ability to work collaboratively with welders, fabricators, and other team members, demonstrating open-mindedness and a focus on teamwork.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in welding or fabrication is a plus.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or metalworking environment is preferred.
