POSITION: Flooring I
LOCATION: Facility Services
SALARY: Pay Grade 61
REPORTS TO: Flooring Foreman
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full time - 12 Months
JOB GOAL: Performs a variety of tasks to help ensure the day-to-day success of the school
district’s flooring needs.
KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Installs carpet, tile, wood and other flooring material for the purpose of ensuring proper completion and installation of work order project
- Inspects and cleans surfaces to prepare for materials to be installed.
- Ability to measure areas to determine the amount of material needed.
- Ability to install and assist in the installation of all flooring material.
- Ability to work independently in work spaces with direction of the flooring foreman for complete installation and completion
- Ability to communicate with supervisors regarding the status of projects.
- Ability to communicate with school administrators regarding the status of projects.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Willingness to learn new skills under the direction of the flooring foreman.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be able to work independently or in teams as required.
- Must be able to work overtime, on call rotation, and/or alternate shifts when necessary for emergencies, adverse weather conditions, and unforeseen circumstances. Position may assist with snow and ice removal or flood mitigation under the direction of a supervisor.
- Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- At all times perform work in a safe manner for yourself and those around you. Maintain a safe and clean working environment with all appropriate or necessary equipment to alert anyone to any type of safety concerns that could potentially cause injury.
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
- Ability to make appropriate decisions without the assistance from the immediate supervisor.
- Be motivated and have a positive attitude to produce a high quality work product.
- Ability to respond as needed to assist with emergency situations.
- Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
- Exhibit dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and use a variety of flooring tools and equipment.
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
- Must be able to perform medium/heavy lifting exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to climb a ladder and be capable of traveling through a needed crawlspace area.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED from regionally or nationally accredited institutions recommended.
- Three years experience in repair and maintenance of various flooring types preferred.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed to perform the duties of the position.
