What are the responsibilities and job description for the Delivery Driver position at Johnstone Supply- The Ware Group?
Responsible for fulfilling the Branch delivery function for customers in assigned coverage area. Responsibilities include driving, route sequencing, order verification, loading and unloading of orders, return service and providing feedback from customers. The Delivery Driver position is required to possess at a minimum a Florida Class E Level license or equivalent and will be knowledgeable of the DOT rules and regulations.
Essential Job Function
- Safely operate company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state and company standards.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers by providing “exceptional service” that includes accurate and timely delivery of products.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or need for repairs to supervisor.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Verify customer shipments against shipping manifests for accuracy.
- Prepare route to ensure timely, accurate and efficient deliveries.
- Fills or assists in filling customer orders by picking product using RF scanner, ensuring accuracy by scanning barcodes; placing and, or packing product into cartons or onto a pallet to provide damage-free shipment.
- Drive straight body vehicles including box truck to deliver supplies and equipment to customer’s place of business or job site.
- Maintain cleanliness of inside of truck, cab and box.
- Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive expedited delivery instructions.
- Immediately communicate delivery, traffic and safety issues to supervisor.
- Record sales or delivery information as applicable, obtain customer signature on receipt for pick up or delivery.
- Serve as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service and delivery expectations.
- Performs general warehouse and other duties as assigned.

Decision making is limited to the scope and breadth of incumbent’s individual responsibilities within the essential delivery and warehouse duties assigned. Work is to be accomplished in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
Education
Education and, or experience to include at minimum a High School Diploma, or (GED) General Education Diploma.
Job Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must maintain Class E license or equivalent throughout employment.
- Required to obtain DOT physical certification prior to driving and maintain throughout their employment.
- Must be at least age 21 in order to drive a truck for The Ware Group.
- Must meet, comply with, and maintain all applicable DOT requirements, including DOT physical.
- Must have appropriate work, driving and other history as required to obtain CDL License and Hazmat Endorsement and meet all insurance requirements for safe operation of company vehicles.
- Must be able to perform all the duties of the Warehouse Operator. Typically, this will be order filling, stock replenishment, Will Call, and inventory cycle counting.
- Must be able to communicate proficiently in English in both verbal and written formats.
