The Director of Collections will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our collections strategy, including internal processes and the management of third-party collection agencies. This role focuses on developing and implementing best practices for recovering subprime consumer loan debt, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and maintaining a customer-centric approach.
Tasks
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive collections strategies for subprime consumer loans.
- Oversee and optimize internal collections operations, including staffing, workflows, and technology.
- Select, manage, and evaluate third-party collection agencies to ensure they meet performance and compliance standards.
- Monitor portfolio performance and delinquency trends to adjust strategies as needed.
- Ensure all collections activities comply with applicable laws, including FDCPA, TCPA, and state regulations.
- Lead and mentor the collections team to achieve and exceed performance metrics.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., compliance, customer service) to ensure seamless customer experiences and operational alignment.
- Use data analytics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
- Act as the company’s subject matter expert on collections, providing guidance to executive leadership.
- 2 years of experience in consumer debt collections, with a strong background in subprime lending.
- Hands-on experience with third-party agency audits and vendor management.
- Deep understanding of consumer lending regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven track record of driving recovery rates while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Experience with CRM systems, collections software, and data analytics tools.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
