Position Title : Healthcare Pathway Peer Tutor, InternshipJob Description : POSITION TITLE : Healthcare Pathway Peer Tutor, InternshipSTATUS : Part timeDEPARTMENT : Center for Academic Success in HealthcareDIVISION : Nursing, Health and Public ServicesREPORTS TO : Manager, Center for Academic Success in HealthcareCLASSIFICATION : Non-exemptMINIMIUM PAY RATE : $15.50 per hourESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Professionally represent Joliet Junior College and uphold the College's corevalues.2. Tutor students using both individual and small group sessions in thefollowing subject areas : Nursing, Pharmacology3. Maintain accurate and timely records of tutoring activities.4. Visit instructors, departments, and classrooms to distribute flyers to helpcreate awareness of tutorial services as well as other services offeredthrough the CASH Center.5. With assistance from the coordinators, select appropriate instructionalsupport materials recognizing and addressing individual student needs.6. Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and training as may be required.7. Assist with receptionist duties as necessary.8. Assist with light office work including but not limited to the following : keeping the CASH Center appearance neat at all times, running errandswithin the campus, preparing materials, filing, photocopying, etc.9. Assist with promotion and coordination of programs and events.10. Assist with note-taking duties as necessary.11. Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. Must have completed one semester of college-level courses whilemaintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.03. Must be enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours.4. Must be a current student in one of our healthcare programs.5. Must have received an A or B in the subject area to be tutored - preferencegiven to students who have completed three or more courses in the subjectarea6. Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.7. CASH Manager approval.8. One faculty reference.9. Excellent customer service skills.10. Ability to communicate effectively with students / faculty.11. Ability to work with minimum supervision and maintain confidentiality inaccordance with FERPA guidelines.12. Patience, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to acceptresponsibility.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS1. Two or more faculty references.2. Previous work experience.3. Ability to work in the CASH Center for at least one full academic year.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
