Job Title: Final Inspector
Reports to: Quality Manager
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The Final Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of aerospace parts before they are delivered to customers or integrated into larger assemblies. The position requires attention to detail, a strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications, and the ability to operate precision measurement instruments. Final Inspectors will be responsible for performing comprehensive inspections to verify that components meet industry standards and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Final Inspection and First Article: Conduct thorough inspections of finished parts, subassemblies, and components to ensure they meet design specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Measurement and Testing: Use precision measurement tools and instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines), optical comparators, and gauges, to measure dimensions, tolerances, and material properties.
- Document Review: Review engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders to verify compliance with customer requirements and quality standards.
- Non-Conformance Reporting: Identify and document any defects or non-conformances. Ensure proper documentation of non-conformities in line with company procedures.
- Inspection Reports: Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports and documentation for traceability purposes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to communicate issues and propose solutions to improve product quality.
- Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in quality control or inspection within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control standards.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM), blueprint reading, and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Software Skills: Familiarity with quality management software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and specialized inspection software.
- Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar quality-related certification is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies and potential defects in components.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform detailed visual and hands-on inspections.
