Description
Jonathan Club is an upscale, members-only, private club located in Santa Monica on the beach.
Club facilities include food & beverage outlets both casual and fine dining, luxurious meeting spaces, and a state-of-the-art athletics facility featuring wellness programs and spa services.
The Director of Engineering is responsible for the following:
- Supervising and directing Engineering staff in the operation and maintenance of the mechanical and physical plant as well as contractors, sub-contractors and service personnel.
- Ensuring that all systems are operating to standard, all property assets are maintained to the highest level and all legally mandated Life Safety operating systems/criteria/equipment as required by local ordinance.
- Ensuring maintenance of records of all maintenance/repairs performed as legally mandated
- Establishing schedules for, and oversees performance of all preventive maintenance activities
- Performing periodic, walk through/visual inspections of all property assets to determine condition, establish maintenance priorities and highlight areas where need for improvement exists
- Overseeing and developing the Engineering Department(s) operating budget(s) according to guidelines established the Club
- Establishing lists of future projects and priorities, for submission to Dir. Operations / Beach Club Manager for review and approval
- Overseeing activities of all outside contractors performing maintenance/repair/renovation operations to facility/fixed assets
- Interviews, selects, trains, appraises, coaches, counsels and disciplines departmental personnel according to Club standards
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years-experience as Director of Engineer in a Hospitality environment
- Working knowledge of Building Codes, Fire & Health Department, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Refrigeration, Life Safety, and Energy Management operating systems
- Ability to read and interpret architectural/ blue-line drawings
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, equipment operation and maintenance, record-keeping systems
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communications skills
- Highly organized, results-oriented with ability to be flexible and to work well under pressure, strong level of initiative required
- Must be computer literate on Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
- Must lead by example by displaying a high standard of performance with ability to communicate these expectations to the team to achieve preeminent results
Education:
- College Degree preferred
- Trades certification or equivalent practical experience an asset

Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
