CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
OR
- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of craft cocktails, beer, wine, and industry trends.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Understanding of local, state, and federal liquor laws.
- Experience with POS systems and bar financial management preferred.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Managing Bar Operations & Inventory
- Oversee all aspects of bar service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Develop and maintain an exciting, profitable seasonal cocktail menu.
- Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Monitor bar inventory and ordering to control costs and minimize waste.
- Maintain high-quality standards in drink preparation, presentation, and customer service.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Recruit, train, and manage bartenders and bar-backs to create a skilled and motivated team.
- Develop and implement training programs focused on mixology, service, and responsible alcohol sales.
- Foster a positive, high-energy work culture that promotes teamwork and professionalism.
- Create staff schedules to meet business demands and maintain labor efficiency.
Ensuring Exceptional Customer Experience
- Interact with guests to ensure top-tier service and resolve any concerns.
- Promote a fun and engaging atmosphere that aligns with our venue’s brand and vibe.
- Work alongside servers and hosts to streamline front-of-house operations.
- Monitor service quality to uphold exceptional guest satisfaction.
Achieving Financial Goals
- Manage bar-specific Profit & Loss, focusing on revenue growth and cost control.
- Collaborate with restaurant management to align bar operations with business goals.
- Analyze sales data to optimize pricing, product offerings, and promotions.
- Contribute creative ideas for marketing, events, and special drink promotions.
Please Note:
Our location is on an island accessible only by the Casco Bay Ferry. Candidates must be willing to commute and navigate the Casco Bay Ferry schedule. This is a seasonal position May through November.
