Job Summary:
The Financial Accountant at Jordahl Custom Homes plays a vital role in ensuring accurate financial records and facilitating smooth accounting operations. Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including financial reconciliation, accounts payable, cost control, and analysis. This role is also responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial transactions, vendor management, invoice processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Process invoices accurately and timely, review invoices to confirm charges align with approved requests and projects.
- Verify vendor pricing, quantities, and addendums to ensure accurate billing.
- Investigate problem invoices by reaching out to service teams, project managers, and subcontractors.
- Categorize and enter rebates, sub-adjustment forms, and DNP invoices (not approved charges, defective items).
- Handle building permit invoices: print, enter into QuickBooks, and coordinate payments.
- Monitor materials invoices, ensuring correct ordering and proper credit processing for defective items.
- Track prepaid and incorrect orders, entering and maintaining records in spreadsheets and journal entries.
- Follow up on outstanding vendor statements, ensuring proper payment status and corrections.
- Identify and process backcharges for labor and materials.
- Work with project managers and service teams to finalize outstanding backcharges.
- Enter backcharges into QuickBooks and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Administer bill backs and ensure they are processed correctly.
- Review and analyze financial statements for discrepancies and accuracy.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CFO.
- Partner with the CFO and other leaders to address and resolve any quality issues promptly.
- Foster strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and partners to ensure seamless operations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with accounting software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- At least two years of related experience required.
- Experience in the construction industry is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
