Requirements :

Summary of Functions :

Oversee all areas of Quality Control throughout the plant and monitor product to maintain company standards. Responsible for employee training in HACCP, Food Safety, GMPs, Quality Awareness and all other quality and food safety programs. This position works very closely with the Sr. Quality Manager in improving the quality programs and operation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities :

Maintain cheese checking program.

Control all sample products to be shipped out.

Work closely with employees to promote food safety and quality awareness.

Assist in employee training for food safety and quality programs.

Participate in plant audits and inspections.

Conduct daily GMP checks.

Monitor employee performance, attendance, schedule, and disciplinary action.

Assist in following up with customer complaints and corrective actions.

Ensure quality control of product and help maintain a high standard.

Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Manage and train SOPs and work instructions for quality control personnel.

Allocation of Cheese and Whey products.

Food Safety Requirements / Responsibilities :

Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations

Conduct verification of monitoring activities to assure finished product comply with food safety and quality specifications.

Participates in the yearly review of the food safety system.

Assist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality system.

Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase food safety and efficiency of operations departments.

Interface with other departments and trainers to develop and implement food safety programs as required.

Organizational Relationships :

Position reports to the Sr. Quality Manager. Direct reports to this position are : Quality Control and QA Laboratory personnel.

Qualifications :

High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biological Science or Dairy Science Degree preferred.

Experience with FDA and Quality Systems rules, regulations, including planning and implementation.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality preferably manufacturing environment.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in supervising or managing others.

Excellent teamwork and strong communication skills.

SQF Practitioner training course a plus

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills.

Attentive to detail.

Ability to work independently and achieve problem resolution with minimal supervision.

Competent in use of Microsoft Office programs.

Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Spanish is a plus.
