What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Manager - CWI position at Weldway Steel Fabrication?
Quality Control Manager ensures the quality of welds and dimensional accuracy of work performed by production staff. The QC Manager uses a high degree of proficiency and utilizes full skills of the structural steel industry; including knowledge of codes and standards to verify that the final product is free of defects and meets the requirements of the contract documents. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform core responsibility satisfactorily. You must be a certified welding inspector to apply.
Annual Salary: $90,000 DOE
Quality Control Manager Duties
- Check quality on shop floor daily to ensure all product meet contract specifications
- Track in-process repair, non-conformance, corrective action, and cost of poor quality
- Submit Weld submittals for new projects
- Create new weld procedures
- Ensure received materials, parts, and consumables meet all quality requirements
- Review Structural drawings and compose Shop RFI’s prior to kick-off meeting
Review job specs, notify Purchasing and Project Managers of specific job requirements
- Set-Up job inspections: get with Shop Foreman to find out what needs to be scheduled
- Conduct welder qualification testing
- Record and maintain welder certification logs
- Review and prepare company for Annual AISC Audits
- 3rd Party Inspection daily log and report
- Maintain and ensure company conforms to AISC Standards
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of shop fabrication, which includes final paint inspections, weld preparations and final welds
- Responsible for fabricated materials conforming to drawings, shop standards, specifications and applicable codes
- Record and maintain in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control
- Identify and remedy drawing discrepancies with Project Manager
- Coordinate with 3rd party inspectors during inspection phases
- Inform foreman of defects on fabrication
- Assist shop personnel with interpretation of drawings and specifications
- Assist shop foreman & leads to maintain quality and production company standards
