Department Sanitation
Reports to Sanitation Manager/ Sanitation Lead
General Summary: Assist the Sanitation Leads or Sanitation Manager in all aspects of the Sanitation Department.
Essential functions of the job: Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Key responsibilities of a sanitation assistant:
Cleaning and sanitation:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in designated areas.
- Empty trash bins and disposal of waste appropriately.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
- Wipe down countertops, tables, and other surfaces.
- Dusting and cleaning windows as needed
- Cleaning various items (including equipment, utensils, and barrels)
- Collecting/empty trash/cardboard/ into proper recycling receptacles
Equipment handling:
- Operate cleaning equipment like mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, and floor scrubbers
- Properly store and maintain cleaning tools and supplies
Chemical handling:
- Follow proper procedures for mixing and applying cleaning chemicals
- Monitor chemical levels and report any issues
Waste management:
- Sort and dispose of waste according to recycling guidelines
- Collect and transport waste to designated disposal areas
Safety compliance:
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) (safety Shoe, Safety glass...)
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues promptly
- Adherent to all sanitation and safety regulations
Collaboration:
- Work effectively with other sanitation staff to maintain cleanliness standards
- Assist with special cleaning projects as needed
- Sanitation assistants must also work independently, being individually accountable for completing duties as assigned by Supervisor or Lead
- When the workload in the assigned area is light or completed, I must actively seek to assist others in their assigned areas
- Rotates to other Sanitation Department positions as needed
Required skills and qualifications:
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleaning standards
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their proper usage
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Must adhere to the plant's HACCP plan
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
- Schedule will could be adjusted to accommodate production needs.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively participates in Continuous Improvements projects and processes
