Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Supported Housing to lead our Permanent Supportive Housing programs. The Director will be responsible for managing daily operations at our Hill Street resident building and managing leadership teams in our supported housing programs. The Director will ensure a collaborative, person-centered approach to service delivery while maintaining compliance with funding requirements and community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Personnel Management
- Supervise program managers, program coordinators, housing advocates, and interns across multiple sites.
- Foster a positive, inclusive work culture that prioritizes staff development and well-being.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate team members to ensure the highest quality of service delivery.
- Facilitate weekly and monthly staff meetings to provide updates, discuss challenges, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Provide clinical and programmatic guidance to staff, including case managers, to address complex resident needs effectively.
2. Program Oversight & Service Delivery
- Manage day-to-day operations of Hill Street Inn and provide direct support to management teams at Kendal, Lansing, and Bethune Family Programs.
- Oversee resident engagement initiatives, including monthly tenant meetings, annual satisfaction surveys, and housing-focused community events.
- Collaborate with Property Management to ensure compliance with federal housing voucher regulations and address property-related issues.
- Lead housing turnover efforts, including scheduling HUD inspections and ensuring units meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Review and respond to tenant incident reports in a timely and thorough manner.
- Represent the agency during eviction proceedings in court as needed.
3. Grant Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure strict adherence to grant requirements and compliance with funding sources, including:
- Regular updates to the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
- Collecting and maintaining tenant paperwork for compliance and audits.
- Completing annual rental recertifications and preparing monthly fiscal rental reports.
- Submitting quarterly and annual performance reports to grant funders.
- Updating the Office of Mental Health (OMH) CAIRS System as tenant circumstances change.
- Safeguard the confidentiality and security of tenant records, including financial and medical documentation.
4. Community Collaboration & Advocacy
- Actively represent Joseph’s House & Shelter in key community partnerships.
- Collaborate with community service providers to ensure residents have access to appropriate treatment and social services.
- Attend agency leadership and board committee meetings to report status of housing programs.
5. Budget & Policy Development
- Develop and monitor program budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Contribute to grant writing efforts in collaboration with the development team.
- Review and implement policies and procedures that reflect industry best practices.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure financial sustainability and alignment with grant requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in supportive housing, social services, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Trauma-Informed Care principles.
- Familiarity with federal housing voucher regulations and grant compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. $72,000-$76,000 annually.
