The Joshua M. Freeman Foundation’s Arts Education Coordinator is charged with managing and growing the organization’s arts education programs. This individual will foster a relevant, impactful arts education program that will provide a layered approach to the school's current curriculum by presenting opportunities for students to experience diverse arts. Arts in Education Program
- Maintain accurate and thorough program records including partner database, communication strategy, performance descriptions and schedules, calendar management, educational tools, attendance records, participant feedback, and other necessary documentation and support materials.
- Create and manage plans to continuously build and foster relationships with students, families, educators, administrators, volunteers, and members of other educational organizations and afterschool programs.
- Coordinate and manage invitation plans and communication to arts education guests for maximum attendance and impact.
- Support Arts Education volunteer program including training and coordination.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to promote arts in education program awareness.
- Assists in the writing of grant applications and annual reporting for core-related accountabilities.
- Lead transportation grant system, Memorandum of Understanding system and reporting.
- Lead post-experience initiatives to include buildings, maintaining and reporting on alignment with learning standards through student and educator surveys, and recommendations for future artist engagement.
- Crosstrain relevant staff to support the execution of Arts Education efforts.
- Provide input to educational program development to support the organization’s strategy and the educational community’s needs.
- Create study guides for each school engagement that includes curriculum alignment, lesson plans, etc.
- Facilitate, recruit and manage the Arts Education Advisory Committee.
- Stay informed and communicate updates to Delaware and Maryland curriculum requirements, arts education initiatives and policy change, etc. to inform programming decisions.
Operations
- Create operations plan for all arts education events
- Operate and manage department budget and track progress towards maintaining these budgets throughout the fiscal year.
- Train and manage staff and volunteers on program protocols and standards for the use of systems.
- Recommend and support creation and implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
- Interprets data to enable optimal decision-making.
- Support and maintain a positive work environment.
- Support and attend some performances and events as needed (evenings and weekends).
Organizational and Board Support
- Support the Community Engagement Director with ongoing projects associated with the success of the Foundation as required.
- Represents the Foundation in the community by attending and participating in local events and activities.
- Demonstrates commitment to the mission of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation.
- Participate in continuing education to improve own professional skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of the local school districts served by the Foundation, along with available resources and connections.
- Knowledge of National Core Arts Standards for grades K-12, in addition to Delaware and Maryland education standards.
- Personable, positive, and diplomatic individual with integrity and a sense of humor, who works effectively with the volunteers, and staff.
- Ability to create relationships and forge alignment amongst various partners.

- Available on weekends, evenings, and early mornings when needed.
Required Experience/Abilities
- A college degree in education, communication, or business is preferred.
- Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- Working with a non-profit organization or arts organization
- Working with both elementary and secondary school district staff
- Experience working with community outreach groups.
- Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders to include school district and building administrators, arts teachers, artist partners, and volunteers.
- Ability to articulate and measure results within a variety of metrics including financial, aesthetic, programmatic, and experiential.
- A demonstrated ability to embrace change, and flourish in a complex and dynamic organization, and to be flexible in a constantly evolving, often ambiguous environment.
- A demonstrated ability to solve problems and develop contingency plans quickly (and to support staff accordingly)
- Ability to prioritize and follow through on several projects/tasks simultaneously.
- Effective organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Articulate, with solid oral and written communications and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer/client services.
- Understanding of working in a non-profit environment with volunteers and limited resources
- Strong technical and computer skills- proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- CPR/AED Certified, or ability to be certified.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, and have the ability to travel throughout Sussex, Worcester, and Wicomico Counties as needed for program-related activities.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and child abuse clearances, in compliance with Delaware state regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting throughout the day, working with a computer.
- Lifting and moving equipment and materials that weigh up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for 6 hours a day or more.
