Credit Manager

Journey Bank, a strong, independent community bank headquartered in Bloomsburg PA, seeks a Full-time Credit Manager at our Bloomsburg (Lightstreet), PA office.

The Credit Manager is responsible to ensure timely and accurate preparation of credit analyses and credit offerings; managing the Collections Department in order to effectively collect past-due loans and maximize the recovery of financial resources related to problem loan accounts; performing Credit Analyst duties as needed; implementing strategies to achieve goals developed for the department; ensuring the department's compliance with operating policies and procedures; directly supervising assigned personnel; communicating with management; and providing periodic reports.

Requirements:

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with a Bachelor's Degree in an accounting or financial field of study.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in banking or a related position is required
• Demonstrated management and supervisory skills
• Ability to use computer with Windows and Web-based software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Advanced reading, writing, and grammar skills
• Proficient typing, math and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to:

• Managing the Credit Department in order to:
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of credit analyses and credit offerings
  • Participate in the deal screen process
  • Effectively collect past-due loans and maximize the recovery of financial resources related to problem accounts
  • Work closely with other managers and customer service personnel to integrate activities, provide quality service, and enhance internal operations
• Perform all duties of the Credit Analyst as needed including:
  • Contact customers regarding questions about financial statements
  • Analyze data and evaluate the short- and long-run prospects, creating spreads and ratios, preparing reports, presents questions or problems and recommends remedial action to loan officers, prepares cash flows and debt service coverage, and requests additional information as needed
  • Provide credit risk rating after conducting a cash flow and collateral analysis or full credit analysis and documentation review
  • Provide all necessary credit analysis work for review by Officers Loan Commitee, tracking application status, approval, and loan policy exceptions
  • Obtain bids and orders commercial appraisals; reviews appraisals to ensure accuracy and compliance; resolves any discrepancies or problems concerning report with appraiser
  • Loan and/or exception approvals
• Oversee the Collections Department to effectively collect past-due loans and maximize recovery of financial resources related to problem loan accounts
• Assist the Chief Credit Officer with calculation and determination of allowance for loan loss/lease loss reserves
• Implement strategies to achieve goals assigned to the department as established in the Credit Division's annual operating plan; assists in the development of the annual budget for the department and adheres to budget parameters
• Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.; and ensured the department adhere to the same
• Directly supervise assigned personnel as follows:
  • Assist in selection, make provisions for the proper orientation, and training of new personnel
  • Review employee performance throughout the initial probationary period and on regularly scheduled basis thereafter
  • Organize, schedule, and distribute work among assigned personnel
  • Keep personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the department and/or job
• Communicate with Chief Credit Officer, other department managers, and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities
• Provide periodic reports to the Chief Credit Officer and other groups as required throughout the Bank
