Journey Center for Safety and Healing (formerly known as Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center) is a non-profit organization that fosters safety and healing for those affected by domestic violence and child abuse and prevents abuse through education, advocacy and systemic change.
Journey Center is seeking a full time Community Advocate with our Domestic Violence Housing First Initiative (DVHFI) program to provide case management, safety planning, and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence. The Community Advocate – DVHFI will work with clients to achieve goals to increase safety, maintain safe housing, and build self-sufficiency, wellness and healthy relationships.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Oversee a case load of community clients while providing case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, and resource referrals.
- Maintain accurate documentation in database
- Meet regularly with clients to review goals, needs, concerns, barriers and successes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (lived experience, academic, professional) is required
- Experience working with domestic violence and/or, child abuse, trauma, case management preferred
- Must have and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage; Must maintain appropriate driving record
Position and job type:
- Full-time, Non-Exempt, Starting hourly rate $19.23
Schedule:
- Work hours are Monday-Friday. Occasional evening due to client needs
